The CBC is giving money to a radical American anarchist to make a documentary about the Coastal GasLink pipeline.

The filmaker, Franklin Lopez, has a long history of making biased documentaries and has track record of promoting violence.

Lopez previously released a documentary called Invasion, which made no mention of the fact that all 20 elected Indigenous bands along the Coastal Gas Link route support the project, including five elected Wet’suwet’en councils.

Lopez has also produced films including Chokepoint: How to Stop Oil and Gas Pipelines and Stop the Flows, and films produced by his previous company, SubMedia.tv are widely used on anarchist and antifa websites that promote violent protests.

But the CBC has "Journalistic Standards and Practices" which ensure that what they air is supposed to reduce bias and "avoid inflaming or aiding in any way the various sides in a confrontation.”
