WATCH: CEC’s Mike Simpson on the impact of increased Canadian oil and gas exports

Canadian Energy Centre Executive Director of Operations Mike Simpson joined Taking Care of Business host Mario Toneguzzi to discuss new research examining the impact of a crude oil and natural gas export surge on the Canadian economy, by simulating a $100 million increase to those resources, and the resulting direct and indirect impacts on employment, GDP, output, and labour income.

The Fact Sheet outlines how Canada’s energy exports increased significantly in 2021 compared to 2020 and will likely continue to grow in 2022 to meet the growing global demand for crude oil and natural gas, which would have a significant impact on the national economy.
